About our Robotic Finishing Cells

Pinnacle robotic buffing cells are designed so the only function of the six-axis robot is to execute the robot part path program.   Our units automatically compensate for wheel wear. Competitive systems use the robot not only to execute the robot part path program but also to compensate for wheel wear.

In this case the home position of the buffing wheel changes with the wheel wear. The robot compensates for buff wear by changing its position which eventually can lead to robot joint errors stopping the robot.

Our buffing units are equipped with our closed-loop electronic force control system with the following features:

·         Maintains the constant programmed pressures while following the part contour

·         Automatically compensates for wheel wear while updating the buff diameter on the HMI after every cycle

·         Maintains a constant buffing wheel surface speed with wheel wear

·         Maintains the same home position for the buffing wheel as it wears.  This is a key feature since the robot is always running the program in the same position unlike a competitive system with the home position changing with wheel wear.

·         The precise pressure control dramatically reduces buff wear

Our buffing units equipped with electronic pressure control are available in single and double-stacked units. The single units can use buffing wheels up to 40 inches in diameter. The double unit can use buffing wheels up to 40 inches diameter on the bottom unit. The top unit uses wheels up to 24 inches in diameter.
